part I

the door falls shut behind me;
it is one quarter past two and i set out for
my date with the moon.

her beauty is striking;
i admire the simplicities of her
ridges and curves.

but she is a temptress;
and in a life of unfulfilled desires,
imagination transcends reality.

my muse was once in my line of sight;
now it is her dark side,
unexplored and out of reach.

i force focus into my mind.

concentrate, girl.
watch as she lights up the sky.
enjoy her simple beauty.

but her mystery consumes me;
like a fool,
my thoughts run wild.

part II

I tried to think of her;
instead I thought of you.

I feel like a madman.
Can I no longer appreciate beauty?

A moon floats in the sky;
yet I think of you.

part III

the door falls shut behind me;
it is two quarters past two,
a miserable date.

Clutching hope in my sweaty fists,
I wonder how you see the moon.
